Counting down the days! 16 days to go! The 2019 festival is drawing closer and we have planned many exciting and unique happenings which are jam-packed into 5 days from Wednesday Feb 20th to Sunday 24th!

Surf Legends Lounge

Come out and meet some of Surfings true Legends. Hosted by Vaughan Blakey and featuring special guests Mark Occhilupo, Dave Rastovich, Taylor Steele (USA), Dick Hoole, and more tbc. This talkback/Q&A style event will be both informative and entertaining. Come out and meet our special guest surfers, activists and filmmakers, as we dig in to surfing, and the lives of those deeply involved through the eras.

Our special guest hosts will be talking with the girls in a live Q&A format about life, surfing, winning, success with it’s ups and downs, and making their mark in what was once a hugely male dominated sport

Filmmaker and featured surfer Q&A with Andrew Kidman and Derek Hynd
In 1995 Jon Frank, Andrew Kidman and Mark Sutherland made the seminal surfing film Litmus. Two decades later they’ve reunited with Derek Hynd, whose J-Bay sessions in the original film are the stuff of legend. His surfing reset what surfers worldwide wanted beneath their feet and led to the biggest revolution in boards since the shortboard. Beyond Litmus charts the early years of Kidman and Frank’s relationship with Hynd, including rare footage and interviews from the Litmus period rescued from the cutting room floor. It’s a veritable Hi-8 rampage featuring Derek and several members of the original cast

A must-see new film about that famous crew of early ’90s surf stars who became the subjects of filmmaker Taylor Steele’s punk-infused, genre-disrupting surf films and defined an entire generation. In 1992 they met up on the North Shore of Oahu spending the winter with the best waves in the world on their doorstep, and it changed surfing as we know it, forever.
